SPACE JOCKEY

Also in 1979.  For the sci-fi film I was planning, I didn't feel the Ultimate Alien was right for the story.  I wanted a stronger look, and was inspired by H. R. Giger's derelict alien space pilot character in Alien. (link 03)

I did not originally name this mask anything -- it was for an alien race in the movie and I felt no name was necessary.  Nevertheless, as I learned from fans, the mask has been dubbed "Space Jockey".  It was never advertised, although it sold well due to a photo that appeared in

Cinemagic magazine #6, and people

 wrote to me about availability.

In 1980, I filmed scenes on a giant sand dune.  12 actors wore a copy of the mask plus fiberglass armor (from clay and a plaster mold )and costumes.
