BELIAL

IMG_2899.jpg

Belial was created in the fall of 1978 right after the Ultimate Alien.  It was my first solo sculpt as we began to add new designs.

The name  Belial (pronounced "bee-li-ul") in some literary circles, apparently is another name for Satan as a fallen angel in John Milton's Paradise Lost.  Most fans pronounce it "be-lial", which also works.

Belial (link 04) and the Ultimate Alien (link 05) were the most popular of seven creations. Both seem to be hotly collected today.

The type of latex and acrylic paint we used has held up over 45+ years, remaining close to "new".  The copies I have are very supple,  and the original paint looks as it did on Day 1.

How a mask is stored is critical.   If stored in damp places, masks painted with acrylic paint breed

mold.  Store them in dry places

I originally had plans to create additional fallen angel masks as a possible series, but filmmaking remained my top priority and after I finished the Demon mask, filmmaking began taking all of my free time.
